Conkle's Hollow rim at golden hour

The western overlooks catch the last light around 6 p.m. in mid-October. Two cautions: the rim runs near an unfenced drop and leaves hide the edge, so the moment happens on the trail, not at the lip; and the trail closes at dusk, so plan to be descending by 6:15. A cabin deck under the Hunter's Moon

Cedar Falls in the last week of October
Moderate · Stairs · Gorge peak Oct 18–25The falls are low in October but the gorge is at its highest color, the hemlocks frame it dark green, and the leaf carpet on the trail is complete. Walk in from Old Man's Cave on a Sunday morning before the crowd wakes up.
