October 2027 Wedding Dates in Hocking Hills: The Saturdays to Book Before Spring

If you got engaged this fall and you want an October wedding in Hocking Hills, you have a decision to make before the holidays. October 2027 has five Saturdays. Two of them are peak-color weekends that every venue in the region will book first, and the couples booking them are touring venues right now. Here's the calendar.

The five Saturdays

Which one to pick

• You want the postcard. October 16 or 23. The 16th is the safer bet for color across the whole region; the 23rd is the gorge-peak weekend with slightly less risk of an early year having passed. Both are the dates that book first.
• You want peak color and a fighting chance at the venue you love. October 9. The high venues — ridge-top barns, lawns with a view — are often at peak by the second Saturday, and the date is less contested than the two that follow.
• You want warm evenings and easy guest lodging. October 2. Sunset past 7, early color, and the region's cabins aren't yet booked solid for guests.

Why the top dates are gone by March

Peak-October Saturdays are the most requested dates at every venue in the region, and the couples who book them are engaged the previous fall — the proposal-on-the-trail-in-October crowd, which is a real and large group. Venues take the first deposit. By the time a couple engaged over the holidays starts touring in February, October 16 and 23 are usually down to one or two venues. The first-Saturday trap and the last-Saturday trap

October 2 looks like a bargain and sometimes is — but ask the venue whether they host an event that weekend (some do fall festivals or run at reduced staffing early in the month). October 30 looks quiet on the calendar and isn't: Halloween on Sunday makes the 30th the party night for every group cabin in the region, and your guests will be competing with costume weekends for lodging. If October 2027 is already tight
